My favorite dude like this ever was Terry Taylor - all 6’8”, 292 lbs. of him - a big goony center who played for Virginia Tech (seen here getting blocked by Emeka Okafor). Taylor’s weirdly effective main role in the Hokie offense (15.5 points, 7.3 boards in 2002-03) was just to hover under the basket like a surly bouncer, forearm-shivering opponents who even dared to try to box him out. During his senior year, Taylor adopted the controversial balding-with-dreadlocks hairstyle, looking for all the world like an enormous 22-year-old Keith Morris. Here’s some low-grade footage of him playing somewhere in Europe, which will sorta function as a madeleine if you spent a lot of time watching crappy Big East regional coverage a decade ago.
